| Each year KR enthusiasts,
builders, and pilots travel to the KR Gathering. This year's event was
held in Pine Bluffs, Arkansas on September 21 thru 23, 2001. Was it going to happen? Was the most asked question this year - before the event. The reason for this was that the Gathering was scheduled for just one week after the World Trade Center Bombings. VFR Flight had not been lifted and it looked like a Fly In without KR's! Plus, many people were already traveling towards Arkansas - those who had scheduled a vacation prior to the fly in. Then, finally, on Wednesday, September 19, 2001 - at approximately 8:00 pm, the VFR ban was lifted! But, not for those unlucky people in Class B Airspace ... (Right "I Hate Sanding" Jim?) Even though the Gathering was go/no go/go, there were 10 KR's that flew in! And approximately 100 participants! |
